One of the most interesting figures released in October 2011 was that of the sales of smartphones. What surprised me was that Android phones were outselling iPhones. There could be a simple reason for this: that iPhone users were waiting for the release of the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 so it’s worth waiting for the next set of figures. However, if these show the same trend then there is an implication for tablet computing: that owners of an iPhone or Android smartphone will often want to by their next tablet computer with the same operating system. So, we might see a knock on effect in terms of increased Android sales (Disclosure I own both an Android and iPad tablet computer).
